Day 5 & 6

Day 5. We started out the day with the women hosting a brunch for the two missionary wives Terri and Tammy and Tammy’s two daughters. We showered them with gifts and encouragement in their work here in Alaska. Wednesday was another great day at VBS. It was our high attendance day with 41 children. Praise the Lord. After VBS we had church service at the Senior Center. Missionaries Matt and Tammy led the service for the residents and workers.

Day 6-This was our last day at VBS with a closing program. We had a girl named Susie who prayed to receive the Lord. We thank the Lord for this decision and pray for the seeds that were planted to take root in the children’s lives. After VBS our missionary John prepared a fish dinner for us on our last night here in Alaska. We had sockeye salmon, halibut, and sheefish all caught locally this week. We also had the treat of tasting beluga whale blubber brought to us by our new friend Harry who is a native Alaskan. After dinner Pastor John took us on a tour of the artic tundra. We concluded our tour with an artic plunge at 10:05 pm tonight with the sun shining bright. We had 3 takers; Sohnie, Chuck and Charity all went under. Tomorrow we fly back to Anchorage and begin our trip home. Thank you for your prayers.

Day 4-Tuesday

This morning we walked and rode 4-wheelers to go see John baker, winner of this years iditerod dog sled race. He wasn’t there but we saw his 40 dogs. We then visited the hospital, viewed local crafts, went to the museum, and went to a gift shop where craftsmen were working. It was day 2 of our vbs with 38 kids. Tomorrow will be our evangelism emphasis so please pray as the plan of salvation will be presented. Tonight the ladies hosted a women’s event to reach out to the women in the community. We had a total of 21 ladies. God is so good. We ministered by sharing personal testimonies, building relationships, worship through song, food, and making crafts. Our team was blessed in this ministry to the women of kotzebue. -The Alaska team

Day 3

Day 3
Today was a blast- a “Beach Blast” that is! Our VBS began today and will continue from 2-4 pm through Thursday. We were excited to have 32 children on the first day learning that God is faithful and always keeps His promises. Before and after VBS we had a paint and work crew from our team scraping and painting trim on a elder’s home from the community. They were very appreciative of our willingness to help them and even gave us some fresh salmon as a thank you. Another busy day of ministry in Kotzebue comes to an end as we watch seals dancing in the bay in the ocean in front of the church. God is Faithful!

: Leading Worship in the Service

Day 2
Today was a day of Bible study, worship, fellowship and outreach at the First Baptist Church of Kotzebue. We were blessed to join in the young adult Bible fellowship class with some awesome young couples. Our team participated in the worship service through singing, sign language, playing the piano, and sharing testimonies. Following the AM worship service we had a delicious pot luck dinner with the members and guests of FBC Kotzebue. This afternoon we hit the streets on mission inviting kids to VBS and women to the Ladies Event. This evening we participated in the evening worship service with singing and testimonies. We then concluded the day with a group devotional, sharing the day’s events and the new relationships made. Thus ends a beatiful day, a great day in the Lord, in Kotzebue. ~Pastor Rickey and the team

After 24 hours of traveling by bus, car, plane, foot, tram, van and snowmobile and 4 hours back in time, we have reached our destination, Kotzebue, Alaska. Pastor John Forrester, wife, Terri and son, John Mark met us at the airport to take us to First Baptist Kotzebue to set up our home and launch pad for ministry for the next 7 days. We are tired physically and emotionally from traveling but by God’s Spirit we are being renewed with new strength and vitality as we seek to do God’s will in Kotzebue. We are going to rest today and prepare for Worship Sunday. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. ~Pastor Rickey and the Alaska Mission Team
