Day 2 in Kotzebue (July 16, 2012)

Day 2 in Kotzebue proved to be victorious. “The Girls” triumphantly woke from their 16-hour slumber, and were joyously greeted by quite an energetic bunch. The team enjoyed a magnificent breakfast prepared by Ms. Terresa, and a devotional (as well as a musical interlude) led by Brother Rickey. They then journeyed to AC’s to purchase a few items, accompanied by an exceptionally energetic fellow named Brian. After picking daisies, riding bikes, inviting children to VBS, and returning to First Baptist, Ms. Joan was delightfully reunited with her long lost box of VBS wonders. The girls proceeded to baking cupcakes for the Block Party while the adults spent time with Pastor Matt and Ms. Tammy. In the evening hours, the girls sorted through toys and attended a Youth Group, the adults prepared for the Women’s Event and feasted on moose and caribou and other such lovely creatures with the Bitz’s, and Mr. Harry led the group in a thought provoking devotional. The day would not have been complete, however, without the men’s exhilarating moose encounter and the female’s late night Internet surfing. (Nice muscles, Mr. Roy.) All in all, a swell day…Thankful for the time we’ve had to settle in, and looking forward to tomorrow’s festivities. “Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.” Romans 12:9,12-13
